Team LNT to run in GT2 and LMP2 at Silverstone

A last minute deal with Zytek will see Team LNT running in the LMP2 class at the next Le Mans Series round at Silverstone in a week’s time (14th – 16th September).

The Team has so far concentrated on running in GT2 but in a bid to broaden their technical experience, the Leeds-based outfit will run the same Zytek car that ran this year at Le Mans (right).

As a result, one of the two Panoz cars that usually competes in the GT2 category will not be making an appearance at Silverstone.

Instead, former Le Mans class-winner Tom Kimber-Smith will partner Danny Watts in the Zytek, with Team owner Lawrence Tomlinson and Managing Director Richard Dean in the remaining #82 Panoz.

“This does not affect our commitment or relationship with Panoz” states Richard Dean. “It is a one-off for Silverstone as an exercise for our race and technical teams. We have a crew that can win in any category, and two drivers on our books that are as good as anyone out there.

“It’s a bit of a late deal, but aren’t they always!”

In a Team that’s always looking forward, a recent restructure has seen the departure of Technical Director Alan Mugglestone with former Manor Motorsport engineer Simon Finnis, Brazillian Marcos Lameirao and former TVR engineer Dan Boardman forming the Technical team. The three have also been at the head of developing the new Ginetta G50 Sportscar.

“There are exciting times ahead for LNT Automotive” added Dean. “Along with the G50 launch, lots could come out of this weekend at Silverstone, and lots could happen. Watch this space!”
